BAM Global Academics Network

The purpose of the BAM Global Academics Network is to use our unique position as Christian academics to add value to the BAM movement through research, publications, practitioner support, and student engagement. This will be accomplished by regularly exchanging ideas and collaborating with academic peers from across the globe who are actively involved in teaching and researching how businesses can be effectively designed and led with a quadruple bottom line focus within specific geo-political and cultural situations. See more information below.

Areas of Network Focus

There are three areas of focus within the BAM Academics community:

1. Networking

  • Create and maintain an active database of Christian academics who are keen on creating post-secondary programs and conducting research on BAM. This would allow for greater networking of like-minded academics across the globe.
  • Establish a core team of BAM academics who are available and interested in connecting with BAM academics across the globe. This would allow easier connection for those in many different time zones.
  • Have monthly regional networking meetings (one hour long). This would allow Christian academics to regularly connect with their regional BAM colleagues to learn of their teaching and research activities.

2. Research

  • Create and maintain an annotated bibliography of BAM related articles and books. This could provide foundational knowledge for academics as they begin their research projects and assist BAM practitioners in their professional development as they work within local and global communities.
  • Build collaborative research networks that would allow for research in all fields related to enhancing the BAM movement globally. This would bring together academics and practitioners in business, theology, missiology, sociology, and other related fields of study.
  • Survey BAM business practitioners and church leaders to better understand the research and training/teaching needs. This research activity could provide data for scholarly research that could be published in academic journals and could provide consulting opportunities to assist BAM organizations and leaders in becoming more successful in their business and mission endeavours.

3. Teaching and Student Engagement

  • Have quarterly global gatherings (2-3 hours long) where recent academic activity may be shared – have seminar-style presentations with discussions. This would allow for academics to learn new pedagogy for teaching and to hear of recent research in the field.
  • Establish immersive learning opportunities within the BAM Global community for university/college students to be exposed to and gain experience in creating and managing BAM organizations. This would include integrating internship programs, boot camps, incubators, travel studies, etc. into the current academic programs.
